ABOUT ME
MARTINA SÖNKSEN is a Brazilian screenwriter with education in Communication and Documentary Filmmaking and interested in creating people-centered storytelling.
She is the screenwriter and producer of UÝRA - The Rising Forest (2022), an internationally and critically-acclaimed documentary film featured in outlets such as Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and the Golden Globes Hollywood Press Association, with world premiere at the 46th Frameline International Film Festival and selected to POV 36th Season Lineup (PBS).
On television, she created, scripted and co-directed the series SOBREPOSTAS (S01-2021/S02-2024) on Canal Brasil, available on Globoplay and hosted by the singer Ana Cañas.
Her filmography also includes the documentary feature THE KARMA KILLINGS (2016) and the short documentary THE PIGEON KINGS OF BROOKLYN (2015).
She lived in Brooklyn NY from 2010 to 2020 and she’s currently living in her hometown, São Paulo.
